Market lovers: London (Part 1)

As many of you may already know, markets are one of the best places to buy second-hand items. You can find markets all around the world and in some places you can find very beautiful ones. 

I don’t know about you but, whenever I visit a new place, one of my favorite things to do is to go shopping. I find that markets are one of the best ways to get to know the place you’re visiting and interact with locals.

I’m going to start with one city that has many different markets: London. London is a multicultural place where tourists mingle with locals and this makes it a great travel experience.

The first place I want to talk about is Camden Town, a place where you can find a wonderful market known all over the world: Camden Lock.

It is surrounded by nice cafeterias, shops and restaurants and more markets. The market offers a large variety of things, from dresses made of recycled materials to Victorian clothes.

Nevertheless, Camden Lock is not my favorite market in London at all since it has become one of the favorite tourist attractions and trying to move around on a normal Sunday morning can become a heroic deed. In addition, overprized tourist souvenirs make it impossible to find a good bargain. Don’t get me wrong, I find it is frauth with art and there are always weirdly dressed people hanging around and this makes it an unforgettable location. Besides I love the multicultural food offer.

Let’s keep going with my favorite one: Portobello Road Market. It offers us a huge variety of experiences: street food, second hand shops that offer luxurious items, fleamarket stands that offer from leather bags and fur coats to second-hand child books, etc… But, what I like the most about it is the fleamarket that takes place on Saturdays, a place where everyone can sell their things and where you get a more personal experience, you get to know the story of the piece of clothing you’re buying. But then again, Portobello Road Market is worth it because of its incredible atmosphere, its busy streets full of bright colors and delightful smells.
